So, it was quite chilly, I was feeling sick, and I thought the best thing for me would be a crackling, warm, wonderful fire. I figured I'd give it a go!
I mean, I was always great at making fires in our firepit in the country. I know all the rules... the wood can't be green, it's gotta be seasoned, you can't use to much paper or it'll burn fast and high but nothing will light, don't stack in such a way that it could collapse and smother the flames, blah-bitty-blah-blah. I thought I had it handled like a pro.
Well, a dead fire, sooty hair, and two smoke filled lungs later, it became clear to me that I just didn't know the mechanics of indoor fires.
Ah well. My dad fixed it and had it roaring in no time. But if my brother asks, I totally made it. This is my pride we're talking about, people.
Oh, and on a bit of a side note, I've decided (after a week of feeling incredibly unwell and ill) that I don't have enough vegetables in my diet at ALL.
My biggest problem is that I don't like most vegetables, and I think this is honestly going to have to be a matter of me sucking it up and eating them anyways. I've figured out rather ingenious ways at sneaking in some veggies - sprouts, lettuce, and tomatoes on my sandwiches (anyone who knows me knows that the whole veggies on sandwiches thing ain't gonna be easy); squash (I really love it with maple syrup and then grilled, YUM); blackened grilled zucchini; homemade veggie soup (I make a good one); and so on and so forth.
I just have to make sure I get variety, or else I'll get bored. Really bored.
At any rate, I need to commit to having my serving of veggies every single day. So, my flisters and Facebookers alike, you gotta hold me accountable. I'll be sure to include what veggies I had that day in my daily posts (and Twitter), make sure I stick to it!
(And if you have any delicious veggie recipies, be sure to share!)
